Marcus Rashford a doubt for EFL Cup final
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag on Friday said he is not sure whether Marcus Rashford, who has been in excellent form, will be fit to play in the upcoming League Cup final against Newcastle United this weekend.
The 25-year-old striker has been outstanding this season, and he played a key role in helping the Red Devils secure a 2-1 victory over Barcelona in the Europa League round of 32 on Thursday.
The result enabled United to clinch a 4-3 win on aggregate over the Spanish league leaders, although Rashford’s potential absense from the League Cup final would be a significant blow for the team.
The forward was substituted in the 88th minute and later posted a picture on Instagram that hinted he had sustained an injury. The image showed him walking down the touchline in apparent discomfort, accompanied by a bandaged emoji.

When asked about Rashford’s availability for the League Cup final against Newcastle at Wembley on Sunday, Ten Hag said that he was unsure whether the striker would be fit to play.
“I don’t know. So, players now are coming in. We have to do investigations, medical of course.
“Yesterday we did but so straight after the game most of the time you can’t say. We have to wait for a 100% diagnosis, so we have to wait.”
Ten Hag also confirmed that Anthony Martial, who has been out of action since February 1, will not be able to play in the League Cup final. This news comes as Manchester United seeks to end a six-year drought without a major trophy.
