How To Download Videos On Instagram

It is now simple to download videos on Instagram. In an recent development, Instagram has unveiled a new feature that allows users to download videos from its popular short videos feature, Reels.

With this update, users now have the ability to share Reels clips on other platforms such as WhatsApp.

The approach mirrors the strategy that has contributed to the rise of Instagram’s competitor, TikTok, as a renowned video-sharing platforom.

The announcement was made by Instagram’s chief Adam Mosseri, through a broadcast channel addressed to his followers. He disclosed that the feature rollout would commence with users in the United States.

Downloading Reels will only be applicable to content shared by public accounts, thus ensuring a certain level of privacy for users.

“In the US, we’re rolling out the ability to download reels shared by public accounts to your camera roll” Mosseri said. “Worth mentioning, Reels shared by private accounts can’t be downloaded.”

To save an Instagram Reel, simply tap on the Share icon located on the reel you like and choose the Download option.

Additionally, for public accounts, there is now an option available in the Account Settings to disable the ability for others to download their reels.

Based on the accompanying visual examples provided by Mosseri, downloaded videos from Instagram will display the creator’s username, similar to TikTok’s approach.

Until recently, Instagram only permitted users to download their own Reels from drafts without any watermark.

Ever since the introduction of Reels on Instagram in August 2020 as a competitor to TikTok, this feature has significantly contributed to the platform’s increased traffic and revenue growth.

During Meta’s Q1 2023 earnings call, CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated that Instagram’s usage time has grown by 24%, primarily due to the AI-driven Reels recommendations.
