Nakuru-Nairobi Highway Congestion :KeNHA Urges Motorists To Use Alternative Routes
The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has released a travel advisory urging drivers who are experiencing traffic congestion along Nakuru-Nairobi highway to consider taking alternative routes. The congestion is a result of the World Rally Championship (WRC) event in Naivasha, which attracted a large number of rally enthusiasts.
The traffic congestion initially began as spectators left the designated zones on Saturday evening. To manage the situation, traffic police are on site and advising motorists to adhere to lane discipline and avoid overlapping when approaching that particular section of the highway.

Motorists traveling from Naivasha to Nakuru have been advised to use the Naivasha-Njabini-Ollkalou-Ol Joro Orok-Lanet-Nakuru road, and vise versa.
Some drivers were compelled to spend the night on the road as a result of the snarl-up. Among the issues raised by affected motorists were the heavy trucks using the weighbridge, with pleas for intervention from the police office.
Gilgil Police boss Francis Tumbo reported that approxiately 2,000 motorists were affected by the traffic situation.
