Mombasa: Students Stage Protest, Burn Property
Violent protests erupted on Monday morning at the Technical University of Mombasa, resulting in a section of the campus being engulfed in flames.
Disturbing videos circulating online showed thick smoke emanating from the Mombasa-based college as students staged demonstration, brandishing placards and branches.
The student center, consisting of stalls, fell victim to a massive fire that rapidly spread and consumed the area. The extent of the property damage caused by the protest is yet to be determined.

The students expressed their grievances against the University administration, specifically regarding fee hikes and allegations of student de-registration from the online portal due to missing marks. They also accused certain faculty members of negligence.
As tensions escalated, clashes between the students and police ensured. Police deployed tear gas in an attempt to disperse the demonstrators.
