Nairobi Expressway To Be Temporarily Closed This Weekend
The Nairobi Expressway is scheduled to undergo a temporary closure this weekend in preparation for the Nairobi City Marathon.
In a public notice released on Monday, Moja Expressway Company announced that the highway will be closed starting from 10pm on Saturday, July 1st and will reopen at 4pm on Sunday, July 2nd.
“Please note that the Nairobi Expressway will be temporarily closed from Saturday, 1st July 2023 at 10pm to Sunday, 2nd July 2023 at 4pm as we host the 2nd edition of the Nairobi City Marathon. We kindly request all motorists and commuters to plan their journeys accordingly,” said the highway’s manager.

The Nairobi City Marathon is an annual event held on the 27-kilometre-long highway, is set to take place for the second time. The marathon serves as a platform to support a worthy cause.
Organized by the marathon’s team, this year’s event revolves around the theme of environmental sustainability. Participants will have the opportunity to contribute to this cause as for every kilometer they run, a tree will be planted.
